What we did:

Prior to working with Network Packaging this customer was experiencing heavy damages to fireplaces in transit. The packaging wasn’t suitable and the level of damage was causing concern to their directors. They had also been battling carriers because they deemed the packaging at the time inadequate. This meant that the valuable fireplaces weren’t insured when damages occurred. Stock holding was also an issue.

Network Packaging worked alongside this leading fireplace manufacturer to develop two new proactive packaging solutions including a multi-use carton and six piece stratocell kit, which can be used to pack four different fireplace models. In addition, we also introduced stock management and stock holding.

The result:

By understanding this business’ needs, the new packaging solution implemented by Network Packaging resulted in:

• Significant reduction in packaging materials used (one range of fireplaces now uses 75% less packaging through the implementation of multi-use materials)
• Virtually eliminated damages and returns – damages in transit were 100% eliminated for one range, while the overall return rate dropped to an astounding 0.17% during 2013
• Customer storage space being used more efficiently – more room for their products as Network Packaging provide stock holding and a just-in-time delivery service
