Sustainable materials & plastic alternatives

Materials made from sustainable sources and alternatives to plastics are another option we can support you with. From FSC certified paper through to compostable films and environmentally friendly tape, here’s an idea of the materials we can provide:

  • Geami WrapPak® – unique honeycomb expanding paper teamed with tissue gives you a protective packaging solution that’s both sustainable and pleasing to the eye.
  • Bio film –film alternatives made from waste by-products such as potato and corn starch are an option if you’re looking to move away from plastic but still want to use air cushions. You can even home-compostable solutions certified to EN 13432 standards
  • Thermal packaging alternatives – traditional thermal packaging options like polystyrene can be replaced with recyclable and eco-friendly materials such as paper pads, sheep’s wool or even shredded recycled clothing fibres. Click to learn more.
  • Paper bubble wrap – a 100% recyclable and paper-based version of bubble wrap. Deep indentations in the paper absorb shocks in transit, providing protection to your products. It can be used for wrapping, as well as void filling and is available in a range of sizes
  • Gummed paper tape – switching to gummed paper tape can help you improve your packaging sustainability as well as material use and pack appearance. See our case study by clicking here

Re-usable solutions

Re-using your packaging, where possible, can have a really positive effect on your sustainability. You could even aim to introduce a closed loop cycle where even when re-usable items reach the end of their life they’re recycled by your business into something else. Some re-usable solutions you could introduce include:

  • Plastic pallets to replace wooden ones
  • Carton shredders to create void fill
  • Modular pick bins to transform your packing space
